New Wetskills event in Groningen: Building Climate Resilience with Nature!

A special Wetskills event with the main theme: Nature based Solutions for Climate Adaptation

From 18 to 30 October 2026, Wetskills will bring its international innovation programme to Groningen, The Netherlands. It will be the first Wetskills event in this vibrant northern city and the 11th edition organised in The Netherlands.

Climate change is increasing the pressure on cities, landscapes and water systems. Nature-based solutions can help us adapt by working with natural processes to address challenges such as flooding, drought, heat stress and biodiversity loss.

During the two-week Wetskills programme, multidisciplinary teams of students and young professionals from the Netherlands and abroad will work on real-life challenges submitted by organisations from the water and climate sectors. Guided by experts, the teams will develop creative, practical and out-of-the-box solutions. The programme will culminate in a dedicated workshop on Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Adaptation, organised by Hanze University of Applied Sciences together with a broad network of stakeholders. The Wetskills teams will present their innovative concepts and contribute fresh perspectives to the discussions on 29 October.

Wetskills-The Netherlands (Groningen) 2026 offers participants a unique opportunity to expand their network, work in an international setting and make a meaningful contribution to climate-resilient communities.
