Wetskills Foundation co-organized the Future Water Leaders (students and Young Professionals) participation for the yearly NKWK Conference, knowledge agenda on Water & Climate in The Netherlands. The 2021 edition was held online. More than 12% of the approx. 350 participants was categorized as ‘Future Water Leader’. Read more in Dutch here.

Floor van der Heijden, APPM and Wetskills Team member, represented the Future Water Leaders during the conference. She hosted the break sessions, was co-moderator of the plenary opening and hosted the closing part. With this, the next generation had a clear ‘face’ during the whole conference. During these sessions the added value and importance of bringing-in the next generation was part of the discussions.

Also Wetskills Foundation. organized an online speed date session where experienced and young professionals spoke with each other in several rounds of 7 minutes. There was a wall with vacancies and internship assignments for interested Young Professionals and students. Various students helped during the  preparation of the workshops and the executing of it. And Wetskills with some other ‘challenge organizers’ in The Netherlands created a workshop on the Added value of challenges for the knowledge agenda Water & Climate to present some background theory and thoughts, some concrete challenges as ClimateCafe, Wetskills and National Climate Adaptation Challenge and having a panel discussion.

Wetskills is looking back to a very fruitful Conference where the intergenerational dialogue and the importance of a Next Generation focus was on te table (or screen) during the whole NKWK Conference. We are thankful to the Delta Commissioner and Ministry of  Infrastructure & Water together with other partners for this great opportunity.
