The Wetskills Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever Wetskills Challenge in East Africa. From 18–31 October 2026, Arusha, Tanzania, will host an international group of young water professionals and students for two weeks of innovation, collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The programme will bring together participants from Tanzania, the Netherlands and many other countries to work in multidisciplinary teams on real-life water challenges submitted by organisations from the public, private and academic sectors. Through intensive teamwork, expert coaching, field visits and interactive workshops, participants will develop practical and innovative solutions while strengthening their professional and intercultural skills.
A unique highlight of this inaugural edition is that the Wetskills Finals and Award Ceremony will take place during the 27th WaterNet/WARFSA/GWPSA Symposium, one of Africa’s leading water conferences, held in Arusha from 28–30 October 2026. This offers participants an exceptional opportunity to present their ideas to an international audience of researchers, water utilities, government representatives, NGOs and industry leaders from across Eastern and Southern Africa.
The Tanzania edition marks another important milestone in the international growth of the Wetskills programme, strengthening collaboration between East Africa, Southern Africa, the Netherlands and the global water community. By connecting young talent with experienced professionals and real-world challenges, Wetskills continues to build a worldwide network of future water leaders capable of developing innovative solutions for today’s and tomorrow’s water challenges.
The programme is organised together with a strong consortium of local and international partners. More details on the programme, participating organisations, study cases and the application procedure will be announced in the coming weeks.
