Wetskills-SA Cape Town 2026 – Day 6 –

Today certainly started on an eventful note! What was supposed to be a straightforward trip to campus, quickly turned into a mini adventure when our driver got lost. It was a little dramatic at the time, but looking back, it gave us all something to laugh about and definitely made for a memorable start to the day.

Once we finally arrived on campus, the challenges weren’t quite over. We spent some time searching for the right venue, but after a bit of teamwork and persistence, we eventually found it and settled in. With that behind us, we got straight into working in our respective project teams, making good progress on our Wetskills challenges.

Lunchtime gave everyone a chance to recharge. Some of us headed to Jean’s Cafeteria, while others explored different eateries around campus. It was a nice opportunity to enjoy good food and catch up with teammates before the afternoon sessions.

The afternoon was packed with valuable learning experiences, as our supervisor Charne delivered an engaging presentation on crafting an effective elevator pitch. She shared practical tips on how to communicate ideas confidently and concisely, while also showing us examples of successful elevator pitches from recent Wetskills editions. It was both inspiring and incredibly helpful as we prepare for next week’s presentations.

Following that, our other supervisor, Precious, led a fantastic session on poster design. She walked us through the key elements of creating a professional and visually appealing poster, giving us a much clearer understanding of what judges and audiences look for. The session provided plenty of ideas that we can apply to our own project posters.

Armed with new knowledge and inspiration, we returned to our teams and continued refining our project ideas and preparing for the upcoming deliverables. After a productive day, it was finally time to head back to the backpackers. We took some time to relax before ending the evening with a fun game night. Team members gathered to play board games, enjoy a few drinks, and simply unwind together.

It was the perfect way to end another busy but rewarding day, reminding us that Wetskills is not only about learning and innovation but also about building friendships and creating unforgettable memories.
