| A warm welcome by the sunny Durban weather, refreshing sea breeze with scenic views rejuvenating the mind and soul upon arrival at the Durban beach packer’s house, our home for the next two weeks.
Participants arrived from different parts of the world, very excited and eager to meet the rest of the team. Upon settling in, we kicked off the evening festivities with a welcome from the supervisors, followed by a meet and greet sessions where all participants introduced themselves and their respective areas of specialisation within the waster sector. What is the next best way to break the awkward silence besides playing games?!
We played a fun game! Pieter Jong shared random different photographs where each person had to choose one photo that inspires a
story they can share with the rest of the team. The game ended with laughter and inspiration from some of the
stories shared by the group of which some inspired nicknames for other participants. All in pursuit of team building!
What best way to end off the day either than over a hot meaty braai? Yes! Welcome to South Africa. We sizzled meat over interactive conversations to close off the arrival’s day.
