Wetskills-Oman 2025 – Blog 1 –
Today marked the first day of the Wetskills program in Salalah, and it was filled with learning, exploration, and cultural experiences.
We started our day with a bus trip to the Nama Water Services Control Center in Dhofar. There, we received an introduction about the facility and learned how the company combines electricity, water, and wastewater management in one integrated system.
Next, we visited one of the wastewater treatment plants in Raysut. The visit began with a safety briefing, followed by an informative presentation about the treatment process in Dhofar. After enjoying some light snacks, we toured the plant by bus and observed the four main phases of wastewater treatment in action.
After gaining valuable insights, our journey continued to one of Dhofar’s most famous natural landmarks: Ain Jarziz spring. This beautiful spot attracts many visitors during the Khareef (monsoon) season. We took plenty of photos and admired the fascinating sight of water emerging directly from the rocks, creating a truly magical scene.
To end the day on a perfect note, we gathered to enjoy a delicious traditional dish called Madhbi. This Dhofari specialty is made from fresh meat—usually goats or sheep raised in the nearby mountains—cooked on flat hot stones heated by firewood or charcoal. The smoky flavor and unique preparation made it especially delicious and left a lasting impression on us.
The first day was not only educational but also full of cultural discovery, and it set the tone for an exciting Wetskills journey ahead!
