The Wetskills South Africa 2025 program has been an eye-opening journey, bringing together young professionals and students passionate about water management. As the program continues, we are gaining valuable insights into water conservation, sustainability, and innovative solutions to water-related challenges.
One of the highlights of our journey so far was visiting the Wemmershoek Dam and Water Treatment Plant. This visit provided an in-depth look at how water is sourced, stored, and treated before reaching communities. Seeing these processes in action emphasized the importance of efficient water management, particularly in a country that faces water scarcity challenges.
We also had the opportunity to visit the Water Hub, an innovative research and training center focused on water quality, circular economy solutions, and sustainable wastewater treatment. It was inspiring to see real-world applications of sustainable water practices that have the potential to create global impact.
After an eventful day of learning and exploring, we enjoyed a late lunch and wine tasting in the picturesque town of Franschhoek. The delicious food and world-class wine provided a perfect setting to unwind and reflect on our experiences. Later, we continued the fun by having dinner together, sharing laughter and great conversations. To top it all off, we headed to the club, celebrating an unforgettable day with amazing company and music.
With more exciting activities and learning experiences ahead, we look forward to deepening our understanding of water challenges and solutions while making lasting connections with fellow participants.
