New York, 22 March February 2023 – At the Morgan Library in New York, Sean Phillips (DG of Department of Water & Sanitation of South Africa and Mr. Johan Oost (Managing Director Wetskills Foundation) signed a MoU on ‘Collaborating on inspiring and capacitating young talents in water and sustainability from South Africa and beyond.’ Two staff members from the international office witnessed the ceremony while Mr. Toine Ramaker (Wetskills board member and CEO VEI) and Loay Alatrash (Wetskills Team member, supervisors of Wetskills-USA 2023 in New York and advisor for World Waternet in Palestine) witnessed the signing ceremony from Wetskills side. The longstanding cooperation with DWS Learning Center is formalized for another five years.
In the first reaction after the signing, Sean Phillips called Wetskills as ‘one of DWS’ flagship programmes for involving the young professionals’. Johan Oost said that this is ‘an amazing honor for our Wetskills Foundation to speed-up our activities‘. He also highlighted the ‘continuous cooperation between both organisations to make Wetskills events in South Africa and also The Netherlands for example happen. The more than 150 Alumni participants from Southern Africa are core to Wetskills Foundation and Wetskills hopes to increase and strengthen this network.‘
