For the traditional water system to make sense it is important to look at them from various perspectives. So to take a look for an old city I and my team left around 9:30.
First we visited various lake systems named Shilaj lake, Thaltej Lake and Vastrapur lake. Even talked to the community and got background of their problems.
Then after we went to old Ahmedabad to visit various pol systems. We experienced that old people have pretty scientific techniques for harvesting water. We visited City heritage centre, Mangaldas haveli and Mehta Heritage home. At Mehta heritage home we talked to Mr .Mehta to have a brief idea about working of water harvesting. Even we visited Akashsheth Kuva ni Pol where we found 30-45 Meters deep wells inside the house!!!
After this we went to Amritvarshini vav-the only stepwell inside the walled city. We saw the whole beautiful structure, took lots many photographs. After visiting all these places we went at CEE campus around 6:30.
The whole day was full of fun, knowledge and we came up with lots many ideas on which we worked on the next upcoming days. It was a tremendous experience to work together with Netherlands people. It was like sharing and gathering the knowledge. The old Amdavadis were crazy and pretty excited to say “Hiiiiii,,,, Kem cho? “( How are you ) to Netherlands people. And yes we walked on the path of Ahmedabad like we never before.
