Bucharest, 1 July 2025 – Wetskills proudly celebrated its longstanding cooperation in Romania during a special workshop held in Bucharest, coinciding with the visit of Ms. Meike van Ginneken, the Netherlands’ Special Water Envoy. The event highlighted the achievements of the Wetskills programme in Romania and its contribution to youth engagement, innovation, and international water cooperation.

The workshop gathered alumni from the various Wetskills events ranging from 2013 to the last Wetskills in The Netherlands (2025) and also various partners. During bthe workshop three solutions of former Wetskills events were discussed on how to follow-up. A lively brainstorm happened (again).

A key moment of the event was the launch of a special Wetskills Book: “Wetskills-Romania (2013-2024)”. This book showcases the stories, results, and impact of Wetskills’ activities in Romania since 2013, including seven successful editions across the country. It reflects the strong partnership between Romania and the Netherlands and underlines the importance of youth as catalysts for sustainable water future.

Wetskills Foundation aims to organise a new Wetskills event in 2026 and maybe also one in Moldova. If you are interested to partner or to join, let us know!

Last but not least, this workshop also marked the farewell to our Romanian hero Violeta Cozianu of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Violeta made the Wetskills events possible with her unmatched enthusiasm and believe. We will miss you, but we will also stay in touch wit hall our Wetskills friends. Multumesc!
