15 March 2022 – Wetskills Foundation and partners in Oman organized a special celebration of ten years Wetskills to Oman. 30 (of 57) Alumni from Oman, who participated in one of the Wetskills events since Wetskills-Oman 2012 (so also outside Oman) came together for a special workshop at the Oman Sustainability Week and a network reception by the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands after that. The workshop organization was also supported by Sultan Qaboos University, KLM and The Hague Academy for local government.
Ms. Stella Kloth (Ambassador of The Netherlands to Oman) gave a keynote address and received the Jubilee Book Wetskills, ten years. Zahir Al-Salmani presented his experiences as Alumni of Wetskills-Oman 2012 and also as representative of Oman during the Young Water Professionals programme of the World Water Day Celebration of 2013 in The Hague. Johan Oost (Wetskills) moderated the workshop. He asked Ahmed Al-Busaidi (Wetskills Team member in Oman) about his experiences since 2012. Ahmed also motivated his passion for Wetskills and what it brings to young talents in Oman. Many alumni shortly mentioned their experiences.
The group of participants requested to activities to meet each other again and discuss work/study and also follow-up of the Wetskills ideas. This is a great example to keep and even strengthen Wetskills Communities around the world, in this case Oman.
January 2012 Wetskills’ first event in Oman was aligned to the Royal State visit of Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands and Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima. Since, Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, Sultan Qaboos University, and Wetskills Foundation with other partners organized many Wetskills activities with participation of many talents, professionals, and organisations with a passion for Water in Oman.
