“Are you a student, trainee or Young Professional active in the water sector?
If so, I am pleased to invite you to the National Delta Conference on Thursday, 14 November 2019, at the Zeelandhallen event complex in Goes. The doors will open at 9.30 a.m.; the plenary opening session will commence at 10.45 a.m.
The tenth Delta Conference features an inspiring and varied programme. For young people, it also has a lot to offer, such as speed dating with water experts, information on education programmes and internships, and opportunities to test your water expertise in the special Young Professional Water and Climate Pub Quiz. Would you like to actually assist in one of the water issues that we are currently faced with? Then the conference is the place to register for the Climate Adaptation Challenge, organised for and by water trainees.
National Delta Conference 2019
The Conference is the pre-eminent time of the year to find out about current developments regarding the Delta Programme. This summer beat the national heat record, dating back to 1944, while several locations in the Netherlands were hit by severe downpours. This once more shows that our work on the delta continues to be of paramount importance. The efforts and inspiration provided by young people are more than welcome to help us tackle these tasks! So come and meet us, listen to speakers such as the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management Ms Cora van Nieuwenhuizen, Belgian engineer-architect Joachim Declerk, and Ria Geluk, who lived through the disastrous flood of 1953 and is a co-founder of the Flood Disaster Museum in Ouwerkerk. This year, our day chair will be Frank du Mosch.
After lunch, you can participate in one of the five substantive sessions which will commence at 1.45 p.m. The topics will be: drought & salinisation; climate adaptation; spatial adaptation in progress; sea level rise; and disaster management. The central meeting place will be, as in any other year, the Delta Parade. This is where all the Delta Programme partners and stakeholders will be presenting information, as will other organisations and (research) institutions involved. Feel free to ask any questions; representatives will be happy to answer them!

You can register up to and including Friday, 1 November via the conference website. Of course, your fellow students, fellow trainees, and fellow Young Professionals are also very welcome to attend. They can register via the same website.
