Why water?
Water is such an integral part of everyday life that most Europeans barely think about it anymore. We drink it, use if for food production, in industry, for transport or recreation. Yet Europe faces a combination of water-related challenges: extreme weather, the impacts of climate change, pollution, and demographic shifts pressuring water infrastructure.
Who are the European Water Stars?
The European Water Stars (EWS) initiative has been created in order to stress the importance of water collaboration within Europe, and to inspire youth to enter the water sector and battle the current and future challenges. EWS are well-known personalities with a strong European background and story, willing to contribute to the awareness raising of water issues among the general public and within their industry. Most represent specialized fields in the arts, sports and contemporary culture.
EWS candidates are chosen because they:
- Have a genuine interest in the issues surrounding a sustainable future and are willing to learn more through briefings and self-study;
- Exemplify good European citizenship and believe in the importance of transboundary cooperation;
- Demonstrate leadership in their professions and a willingness to use their professional prestige and networks to promote the cause of sustainable water.
Final product
The selection, engagement and results of the engagements with the Water Stars, shall be recorded by a professional in our team and developed into a short documentary. The documentary produced as a result of the project will be used as promotional material for theEWS initiative.
