Wetskills-Tunisia 2025 – Blog 8 –
After nine days of non-stop hard work and effort, the long-awaited rest day finally arrived. The teams had been divided to tackle different international cases, each heading in their own direction, but of course, it was impossible for everyone to go on separate adventures. On Sunday, October 26th, we met at a café to discuss our plan for the day. The weather was scorching, so there was really only one option left: heading straight to the beach. No debate about it!
The funny part was that the first group to leave was “Sally” and “Laura,” while I, “Firas,” and “Abigail” stayed behind to work on the poster. We thought, “It’s a rest day!” But (laughing), little did we know, the deadline for submitting the poster was today! I definitely didn’t expect the so-called “rest day” to turn into an extra workday, but hey, that’s Wetskills for you.
The only person who truly embraced the rest day was “Dineo.” She hit the beach, had some tea, and took countless stunning pictures. It was like her personal vacation while the rest of us scrambled to meet deadlines!
At 12:00, we all made our way to “Merza” beach. Meanwhile, “Aymen” decided to head off to “Sidi Bou Said” alone, enjoying the quiet, peaceful vibes. He was all about the tranquil tourism, away from the hustle and bustle of the beach. As for me, I was one of the people who didn’t bring swimwear (oops, poor planning on my part!), and “Abigail” was busy snapping her usual photos. “Firas” and “Mahmoud,” on the other hand, enjoyed swimming in the sea, while “Dineo” made sure to capture every perfect moment, living the dream.
But the real surprise came when “Aymen” mysteriously disappeared for a while. We had no idea where he went. Was he on a secret quest for a sea pearl? (laughing). At 4:50 PM, we headed to the restaurant for dinner, and the pizza we got was the worst one in history! Of course, I didn’t dare try it (laughing). But “Abigail,” “Mahmoud,” and “Firas” enjoyed some tasty shawarma, while “Sally” and her crew decided to have fish. I think it was delicious, but I wasn’t jealous (laughing) because I was still thinking about the pizza disaster!
The day ended with a Barcelona loss, and what made it worse was “Aymen” being on cloud nine while I was in utter disbelief (laughing). After that, we left “Abigail” at the ice cream shop, where she spent a solid hour there. I think she bought out the whole place (laughing). We wrapped up our day with a nice little gathering, filled with laughter and good vibes.
And despite all the fun, we didn’t sleep as we had planned! We stayed up working until the late hours, with “Aymen” being the only one who peacefully drifted off to sleep. The rest of us? Still working, as if we didn’t know what rest meant. Now, we’re gearing up for tomorrow, another busy day ahead. But at least we know today was full of memories and laughs.
