Our Wetskills adventure to Zriba Olia in Zaghouane felt like stepping into a postcard, the stone village perched above endless hills, the breeze carrying laughter and the scent of Tunisia. We wandered through history, played traditional games, and shared stories that bridged continents. Fricassé and kaak warka tasted even better when shared between new friends from Tunisia, South Africa, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the Netherlands, and Italy.

By the time we reached the Temple of Water, with Bochra’s homemade muffins in hand and the sun softening over the valley, we were no longer just participants, we were a family, bound by adventure, laughter, and the beauty of connection.

Once we were back on the bus, the road, filled with exchange of laughter and cultural music, took us to the heart of Tunis. The Medina of Tunis, with its beautifully white walled, blue door passages, was where we were told of an awaiting Tunisian experience. But what we found was a rooftop dinner that resulted in a culinary masterpiece. From Tunisian Couscous to Tunisian sea bream dish and ending the night off with Crimet Boufriwa and traditional Tunisian mint green tea.

The heights of the heart of Tunis won the hearts of the Wetskills participants. After a day filled with growing friendships, architectural wonders and natural beauty, we were happy to make our way from the Madina maze to the comfort of the Mondial Hotel. Here we reflected on all the things we had seen during the day and lay satisfied and with knowing that it was the start of a life-changing experience. And as the lights went out we allowed ourselves for the preparation of a brand new day in which we would officially take on the Wetskills Challenges.
