It is 7 in the morning and the alarm is ringing in the Green Elephant Hostel! A quick shower and it is off to breakfast which is taken care of very kindly every morning. Filled with some fruit and a nice omelet we get the Uber to the beautiful campus of the University of Cape Town (picture 1)! I cannot really think of a more iconic please to study and work than at the foot of Table Mountain.
Regarding an official of UCT we got appointed the dungeon of University but that won’t stop us from doing our job on five different cases (picture 2). After a nice introduction on how to work on our paper, posters and figuring out how we can do a pitch, it was time to work on the cases as a group. Some worked at the hostel or their own place and some of us stayed at UCT until 5pm.
At 6pm we gathered at the hostel because we figured that we could use a social activity after all the hard work we did, and even more that will come. That is why we went to a soccer match at Athlone stadium with 14 people (picture 3). It was Stellenbosch playing Orlando Pirates, one of the biggest South African teams in history. Despite the draw without any goals, we enjoyed the atmosphere in the stadium and doing this as a group together. A late diner at the hostel ended the day. Off to more work tomorrow!
