Wetskills-Romania 2024 – Blog 3 –
On the third day we woke up at a beautiful horse ranch in the mountains. The view from our stay was beautiful and the animals located at the site were also great company. We started with a nice breakfast with some traditional Romanian dishes like fried vegetables and papanasi. After enjoying breakfast combined with coffee and taking time to cuddle with the farm cat, we were ready to go.
Diamond solar panels, and visit to the research area
We took the bus to the university of Valahia in Targoviste. Here we got a guided tour of the research area. They had research space for engineering, food science, mechanics and more. After the tour, we enjoyed a pizza together. To end our morning visit at the university, we went outside to look at the diamonds, which are nicely looking solar panels that shimmer the sunlight and are attached to the outside of the building.
Visit to a water treatment plan
For the afternoon, we took the bus to a water treatment plant. The plant was quite recently built in 2017 and therefore made use of bubble aeration. Sadly, they did not have the possibility to make usage of the green gas as they did not receive enough wastewater in order to do so. Some of the purification tanks were not used either due to this reason. This happens because not many households are attached to the sewer system yet. However, they created the size of the treatment plant based on predictions for the future. In case the attached city grows, they will have enough space.
At this treatment plant there was also a very sweet dog that followed us throughout the whole guided tour, asking to be petted. This was definitely a highlight! After finishing the tour at the water treatment plant, we went back to the bus and on our way back to Bucharest, where we had some dinner at the mall and went straight to bed after the intensive, but enjoyable day we had.
