We all know that teamwork requires collaboration, trust, respect and especially effective communication between its members, things that many people are scared of and prefer to work alone.
But is this the best decision?
Well, a famous quote says that “a man can be a very important element in a team, but a man cannot make a team”. Aside from the fact that dividing a task into smaller duties makes work more efficient, there are many other advantages of teamwork. For example, by working in this way, you can learn many things that would be harder to achieve individually.
At first each of us wanted to work in a different style, Mariëlle wanted to talk without laptops in front of us, Kjell, Anton and Bogdan wanted to look for information, and I wanted to stay outside so I could smoke a cigarette … or more.
Our case is quite complex, we must find solutions to prevent the flash floods in the north-western part of Romania. It’s just that we are conditioned by the climate, the structure of the soil, the narrow valley of the river and the houses of the people who are built right on the river bank.
Yesterday I left the university with the thought that I will not be able to find a good idea, and most of all, with the fear that I will not be able to enter the team.
So, I thought, and I kept thinking, I searched the internet a lot, and then I thought again… until I fell asleep. I think I thought a little bit in my sleep as well.
So, Wetskills means brain storming not 09:00 to 17:00, it means brain storming every second, if you want to do an applicable plan for actual problems. So, this morning I’m came back to University and the team was so happy and friendly and I told them about what I think, and everybody came with their ideas, and all my issues were gone. Now I think my team is the best and I’m glad to work with implicated people in this project.
The American philosopher Henry David Thoreau wrote: “To form a team is only the beginning, to stay together is progress, to work together is success!”. Nor can that be truer!
