Wetskills-NL 2025 – blog 2 –
Our Day began at 10:00 when we met with the Team and our Supervisors at the Stay Ok Hotel. Immediately we headed straight to a train station in Holland Spoor and took a 20min train to Rotterdam Central . Rotterdam is one of the most modern and vibrant cities in the Netherlands. Known for its innovative architecture, rich maritime history, and bustling port. One amusing instance was when the team sat in the red chairs in the first class section (Red chairs section), because of lack of knowledge. Through the train window on our way to the Rotterdam , one could see a lot of agriciltural land and canals along the way. When we arrived at the Central Park in Rotterdam, we had a little touristic visit in the Rotterdam and we went to places like
- The Stadhuis Rotterdam ( the City Haul) – this grand building is one of the few structures that survived the devastating bombing of Rotterdam during World War II. As we were walking arround we met a
- Saw the Cube house– (Unique tilted houses that are a must-see for architecture lovers)
- Visited the Port Paviolion Information Center– the spot where the port city of Rotterdam originates. Located near the Erasmus Bridge,
- Took the walk to the Erusmaus Bridge Tour- one of Rotterdam’s most iconic landmarks. Nicknamed “The Swan” due to its elegant shape, the bridge connects the north and south parts of the city and offers fantastic views of the skyline
After the long tourist visit at 12:00 each group was given 2 hours to start with their Wetskills Crazy 88 challenge and to also to have lunch. Our group (Mamothe, Chan and Lufuno) we had an amazing and funny time doing the crazy 88 challenge and we also had very delicious and affordable Fish and Chips at Royal Chips at the Markhal. The Markhal is a massive indoor market with fresh food, restaurants, and stunning artwork on the ceiling.
At 15:00, we visited the case 1 location of the Rotterdam case (Goudse Singel) and our final destination in Rotterdam was at the pub where we went for the end-of-day beverages provided by Wetskills. Even though we were exhausted by the end of the day, we had made many wonderful memories with our Teams and had learnt a lot about Rotterdam.
After a very long Day the we eventually went back to the Hague by the Train and walked to our Hotel.
