Wetskills-Mozambique – Blog day 2 –

We travelled to Gorongosa National Park with 23 participants of the Wetskills challenge. We were excited to arrive at the park where were welcomed with a lovely dinner and introduction to the area.

On 14 July 2024 we woke up early to meet at 6am to make our way to the game reserve. When we got there, we filled in the necessary forms and were split into three different tour vehicles to be shown around the park and see the different animals.

We saw a range of animals including a variety of antelope, birds, lions and crocodiles. We had a break halfway through the tour to enjoy a splendid view of the park while drinking coffee and eating biscuits. When we got back we had a short break while waiting till everyone got back from the safari before going to see one of the pangolins that are in the rehabilitation centre at Gorongosa. We received a lot of information about this animal and got to take some pictures.

After that we went to the biodiversity lab and the animal lab where they are doing research about the plants of the area as well as the animals to be able to take better care of the natural environment in the park.

We ended the day off with a lovely lunch where we met the environmental minister who we also took a picture with. After the lunch we drove back to our accommodation in Beira town.
