Wetskills-Mozambique – Blog day 6 –
This Thursday morning in Beira is bathed in golden sunlight, with the birds chirping outside, promising a day full of potential and productivity. We began our day with a hearty breakfast at Residential Aulios, our temporary home, before heading off to the University of Zambeze to embark on our day’s journey.
Our training session focused on writing a Business Model Canvas for our case studies. This exercise was incredibly helpful, as it provided us with a clearer understanding of how to align our case study components with the attributes of the Business Model Canvas. Following the training, we worked in our teams, brainstorming and unfolding ideas that could be applied to our cases. Each team had a consultation session with our supervisors to discuss the Plan of Action submitted the previous day. During our session, we were advised to narrow down our case study as we had broadened its scope beyond what could be completed in two weeks. This feedback was invaluable, and after consulting with our case owner, we received guidance on how to focus on the main problem of the case, allowing us to proceed more effectively. While some teams faced similar challenges, others were right on track with their case studies.
Several teams needed to head out for site visits and consultations with small-scale farmers and community members. These field visits are essential for gaining insights into on-the-ground realities and generating innovative ideas, particularly important in Beira, a city committed to climate resilience. For lunch, we visited a nearby canteen before returning to continue working on our cases and consulting with supervisors. The afternoon flew by, and soon it was time to wrap up for the day. We packed our bags and headed back to our hotel, making a quick stop at the bank for those who needed more cash. Back at the hotel, some groups had already planned for a long night of work, opting to skip dinner to focus on their case studies. The dedication and hard work of everyone involved make it clear that we are all committed to making significant progress in our projects.
Overall, it was a productive and fulfilling day in Beira, filled with learning, collaboration, and a clear path forward for our case studies.
