Wetskills-Mozambique, Blog day 4 –

After three days of fun activities and interesting tours around Gorongosa National Park and the water treatment plant, today is a serious day. First of all, formal visits to government authorities and secondly the official kick off of the cases!

We started the day with a proper breakfast at Residencial Aulios where most of us showed up in a bit more formal outfit than the past few days. After breakfast we got into the bus to give a visit to the governor of the province of Sofala at the Sofala State Secretariat. We were welcomed in a formal room with mics in place, through which we were all given the chance to introduce ourselves.

Afterwards, the governor explained about the water challenges that the Sofala province is facing and urgently invited us to come with solutions during the event. No pressure!! ”And, if you deliver good works that might lead to a new win during elections”, he jokingly shared .

After the first visit we continued to the municipality where we had a really enjoyable meeting with the mayor. A really friendly person that personally welcomed everyone. After a clip was shown and explanation of the mayor there was the possibility to ask questions.

We spent the afternoon  at Zambeze University. The cases were introduced by the case owners in a personal meet & greet. This helped to clarify the exact goal of the assignments. Besides that, we met with a wide range of local experts from government institutions. We concluded the day loaded with ideas and a lot of possible ways forward!
