Amidst the chaos of battling the persistent virus that decided to tag along on our WetSkills training in Jordan, we finally emerged victorious and ready to tackle the day with newfound energy. As the sun rose over the University of Jordan, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of nostalgia. The sight of the university triggered memories of my father’s tales from his own university days, back when he pursued both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. His stories always carried a sense of joy and nostalgia, and now, standing on the same grounds, I felt an inexplicable connection to his journey.

With determination and enthusiasm, my companions and I set out on a new day, this time at the center of water, energy and environment. The stories of my father served as a driving force, igniting a fire within me to excel and find a fulfilling discussion alongside this incredible group. Teaming up with a spirited young man from Yemen, we dove into our roles with gusto. Our brainstorming sessions resembled a whirlwind of ideas, and together we crafted a report that surpassed our expectations. Time flew by, and before we knew it, it was lunchtime. As I sat down to eat, surrounded by friends hailing from Iraq, Kurdistan region and Jordan, whom I had the pleasure of meeting through the program, I realized how precious these connections were. The camaraderie and shared experiences over meals turned ordinary moments into cherished memories.

The days might have been long and tiring, but they were equally inspiring. Working together, laughing together, and even battling the stubborn virus together, we formed bonds that transcended borders. Each day was a chapter in our story of exploration and growth with WetSkills. As the day wound down and I returned to my hotel room, a sense of fulfillment settled over me. Tomorrow promised to be a blank canvas, ready to be painted with new memories and fresh learning experiences. With the echoes of my father’s stories still ringing in my ears, I drifted off to sleep, excited to seize whatever the new day had in store for us.
