The first day of the Wetskill Program in Amman was filled with anticipation and excitement. As I arrived at the ACWUA, the venue where our case study would take place, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of curiosity about what the program had in store for us. Gathered in a room filled with like-minded individuals, all eager to learn and make a difference in the world of water management, I felt a sense of camaraderie. The program facilitators greeted us warmly, setting the tone for what promised to be an immersive and enriching experience.

We began with an introduction to the program objectives and an overview of the case study we would be working on. It was fascinating to see the breadth and depth of the water management challenges faced by Jordan and the potential solutions that could be explored. Throughout the day, we engaged in interactive discussions, group activities, and meetings with the case owners. The knowledge and expertise shared were invaluable, and I couldn’t help but be inspired by the passion and dedication of everyone involved.

With a renewed sense of purpose, I eagerly looked forward to the rest of the program, knowing that each day would bring new insights and opportunities for personal and professional growth. After a morning filled with engaging discussions and thought-provoking presentations, it was time to refuel our bodies and minds with a delightful lunch. The scent of aromatic spices filled the air as we made our way to eat, eager to try some traditional Yemeni cuisine.

A feast of flavors awaited us of savory chicken dishes and fragrant rice and flavorful stews, there was something to tantalize every taste bud. To complement our meal, we sipped on refreshing icecold cola, which provided a cooling respite from the heat of the day. Leaving the lunch table with satisfied stomachs and content hearts, we were ready to continue our journey of exploration and learning.

After a day filled with learning and networking, the evening presented an opportunity for us to relax and explore the vibrant nightlife of Amman. A group of us decided to venture to the Jabal café, a hidden gem tucked away in an isolated mountain area. With the promise of breathtaking views and a cozy atmosphere, we eagerly embarked on this adventure.

As we made our way up the winding roads, the twinkling lights of the city below became a distant memory. Surrounded by nature and enveloped in darkness, we arrived at the Jabal café. The warm glow of the outdoor lights welcomed us, casting a magical ambiance over the rustic setting. We settled into our seats, surrounded by towering trees and a serene silence. The air was crisp and refreshing, providing the perfect backdrop for heartfelt conversations and laughter among friends. The scent of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mingling with the cool breeze that whispered through the branches.

As we indulged in our beverages and delectable desserts, the conversation flowed effortlessly. It was a night of bonding and creating lasting memories, as we shared stories, exchanged insights
from the day’s events, and reveled in the beauty of the surroundings.

From the terrace, we were treated to a panoramic view of the city below, its twinkling lights reminiscent of stars in the night sky. The peacefulness of the mountains, coupled with the company of newfound friends, made for a truly enchanting evening.

As we bid farewell to the Jabal café, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for this unique experience. It was a reminder that amidst the chaos of our busy lives, moments of serenity and connection can be found in the most unexpected places.

With hearts full and minds rejuvenated, we returned to our accommodations, eager to continue our journey with the Wetskills Program.
