Wetskills-Romania 2024 – Blog 4 –
This 4th day unfolded like an mosaic of learning, inspiration and vibrant moments that brought the teams closer to our goals. As the morning haze blanketed the streets of Bucharest, we braved the slow-moving traffic, which gave us a moment to reflect on the bustling energy of the city. Our destiny was the Politehnica University of Bucharest, where we began the day with a workshop focused on shaping and refining the project themes. The session took place in the Prysmian Hall, an unexpected cozy and modern venue located in the central heating plant building of the university. The warm, inviting space complete with separate seating area, set the tone for an engaging and productive day.
The highlight of the morning was Marcel’s captivating presentation, where he walked us through the history and global reach of the Wetskills program. Using an interactive map projected on the screen, Marcel showed us just how far Wetskills has spread – across North and central America, Europe, Asia Africa and the Gulf. You can see the map in one of the images. It was thrilling to learn that the very first edition in Romania was the 75th globally and that the landmark 100th edition will be celebrated here as well. This legacy reinforced our sense of being part of something truly global and impactful.
After the workshop, we had a privilege of meeting experts form ECOIND Romania. Mr Mihai, the director, shared practical insights and invaluable advice for tackling our case studies on water treatment. His expertise and approachable demeanor sparked meaningful discussions within our teams, energizing us for the task ahead.
During lunch, we explored the culinary delights of a nearby restaurant. The warm, misted windows of the bakery next door (featured in the photos) tempted us with their golden pastries – a cozy autumn indulgence. Recharged, we took advantage of the crisp fall weather to explore the Politehnica University campus. The dry leaves crunching underfoot and the trees shedding their golden hoes created an enchanting atmosphere, captured in the photo of the serene university grounds.
By the afternoon, we were back in the Prysmian Hall diving deeper into our projects. The day closed with a sense of accomplishment as out teams made significant progress while enjoying the collaborative spirit of the program.
Day 4 wasn’t just about work – it was a journey of exploration, connection, and inspiration. From the bustling city streets to the warm embrace of our workspace and the insights of industry experts, every moment added a unique color to this unforgettable experience. We left the day feeling both humbled and excited to contribute to innovative solutions for an sustainable future.
