In some regions\, gender still affects daily needs\, access\, and role in water management. Women are often responsible for unpaid water collection labor\, while simultaneously being denied participation in the decision-making processes that shape the management of these resources. How can i-WSSM use the sex-disaggregated data (1)\, to develop solutions for these challenges (2)\, and to create inclusive approaches that promote gender equality in the domain of water resource management? \nCase 2: Islands working together on climate adaptation\n\nCase owner: Water Authority Hollands Noorderkwartier & CEP-island network \nIslands around the world deal with similar challenges adapting to climate change. In 2023\, the CEP (Caribean\, European and Pacific)-island network was created to enhance knowledge and experience sharing between local water managers of these islands. After a good start\, the next step is to enhance our involvement\, both in deepening the topics and in number of participants. The goal of this case is to come up with a strategy to engage in the CEP-island network to find out how the platform can benefit its members long-term\, that is till 2030. South Korea has 3358 islands\, which (part of it) are dealing with same challenges. How can this platform learn from the way these South Korean islands work (together?) on climate adaptation? \nCase 3: Water Footprinting & Water Reporting for South-Korean conglomerates\n\nCase owner: Korea Society on Water Environment (KSWE) & Korea Society of Water and Wastewater (KSWW) together with Water Footprint Implementation \n\nSouth-Korea is both a significant importer and exporter of virtual water. Several large conglomerates dominate the Korean economy\, and their activities have a substantial impact on water resources globally. At the same time\, reporting requirements are becoming increasingly stringent in many regions\, with the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) being a notable example. These regulations highlight the water risks and dependencies that companies face\, along with the impact they have on water resources throughout their value chains. How do more stringent reporting standards (such as the CSRD) impact Korean conglomerates and their water resource management? \n\n\nEvent Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”53765″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53274″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”59362″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”56307″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”53101″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”62658″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53764″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””]Previous Wetskills Events in South Korea\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”59848\,59851\,59850″ img_size=”medium” css=”” column_number=”3″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”59849\,59852\,59853″ img_size=”medium” css=”” column_number=”3″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”59854\,59855″ img_size=”medium” css=”” column_number=”2″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”]

In the Asia and the Pacific region\, women and girls are key stakeholders to manage and conserve water resources at the national/local/community levels. Considering the regional background and UNESCO’s Call for Action ‘Accelerating gender equality in the water domain’\, what would be your action plan to disseminate the water and gender equality agenda in the AP region\, including priority areas\, target countries\, target levels\, effective methods\, and specific tasks? \nCase 2: Fighting climate change on Korean islands\nCase owner: Water Authority Hollands Noorderkwartier (The Netherlands) \nThe Netherlands is facing several climate related challenges that have their impact on the coastal and island landscape\, with problems like flood risks\, and periods of drought causing an increased salinity in aquifers and fresh waters. All these challenges have technical\, spatial and participation aspects. One of the (public) regional water authorities in the country\, HHNK\, is  joining this Wetskills challenge as a case-owner because they are very keen to learn from the South Korean experiences\, in particular related to islands. What are the main challenges Korean colleagues are facing? The team of students is asked to dive into the South Korean governance for islands for both flood risk and salination\, and advice HHNK and potential Korean partners on further collaboration. \nCase 3: South Korea’s dependency on virtual water trade\nCase owner: Water Footprint Implementation (The Netherlands) \nAt the COP-26 in 2021\, the Glasgow Declaration on Fair Water Footprint has been introduced and signed by various governmental and non-governmental partners. South Korea imports a lot of agricultural products from other countries. The water that has been used to grow the crops at these production locations is embedded in the imported trade volume and is called ‘virtual water’. South Korea is one of the largest net virtual water import countries for agricultural products worldwide. How can South Korea increase its water- and food-security\, while ensuring a Fair Water Footprint of agricultural imports for national consumption? \nPitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”59844″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank” qode_css_animation=””]Pitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”59845″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank” qode_css_animation=””]Pitch & Poster  –  Winning Team!\n \n[vc_single_image image=”59846″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Pictures\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”59848\,59851\,59850″ img_size=”large” column_number=”3″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”59849\,59852\,59853″ img_size=”large” column_number=”3″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”59854\,59855″ img_size=”large” column_number=”2″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Video’s 2018 & 2019\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”59362″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53274″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53765″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”55019″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56307″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”59669″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”54106″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”57060″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”53764″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”57038″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”57060″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Join this Wetskills event!\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]
