DESCRIPTION:About The Event\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Wetskills Challenge again in Amsterdam!\nWetskills organised the 6th Wetskills Challenge in Amsterdam (and 8th event in The Netherlands)\, linked to the Amsterdam International Water Week AIWW 2021 at the Aquatech-Amsterdam 2021. The Challenge started on 24 October\, with the Finals & Awarding on 4 November as part of the Future Water Leaders programme at the Aquatech and AIWW program. \nDuring this Wetskills Challenge teams of students and young water professionals (with a diverse backgrounds\, nationalities and experiences) worked on real life water cases in an exciting two-week program. Their main challenge: to think out-of-the-box and develop innovative\, but realistic concepts. \nAlthough some participants could only join online due to corona\, fortunately the Wetskills crew was sure to let all join and participate. The teams presented their ideas with a two minute pitch\, Q&A and a poster on 4 November 2021. \nWatch the video of Wetskills-The Netherlands 2021!\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Info\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Overview Programme Wetskills-The Netherlands (updated) \nLeaflet for Participants Wetskills-The Netherlands 2021 \nTerms & Conditions Wetskills-The Netherlands 2021 \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_button icon_pack=”font_awesome” fa_icon=”fa-facebook” icon_position=”right” target=”_self” font_weight=”” text=”Attend on Facebook” link=”https://www.facebook.com/events/1403662813341601″ icon_color=”#ffffff”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]About Wetskills\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”58191″ img_size=”medium” qode_css_animation=””]www.wetskills.com \n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Follow Wetskills\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-facebook” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.facebook.com/Wetskills-496271977097972″ anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_facebook”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-twitter” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”http://twitter.com/wetskills” anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_twitter”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-instagram” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.instagram.com/wetskills/” anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_instagram”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-twitter” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.linkedin.com/groups/2949484″ anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_linkedin”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-youtube-square” fe_icon=”social_youtube” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJmPNM9roCkR1uvgJMHqpvA” anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px”] \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Blogs\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_blog_list type=”boxes” image_size=”landscape” show_thumbnail=”yes” number_of_columns=”3″ overlay_icon=”1″ order_by=”date” order=”DESC” title_tag=”h5″ display_excerpt=”1″ info_position=”top” post_info_text_transform=”none” post_info_font_weight=”700″ post_info_font_style=”normal” display_category=”0″ display_date=”1″ date_place=”over_title” display_author=”0″ display_comments=”0″ display_button=”1″ icon_pack=”font_elegant” fe_icon=”arrow_right” button_icon_position=”right” vertical_align_text=”middle” date_position=”in_icon” border_around_item=”no” separator=”yes” display_circle_button=”1″ enable_circle_button_shaddow=”1″ number_of_posts=”12″ overlay_color=”rgba(0\,221\,207\,0.59)” text_length=”200″ post_info_color=”#43dbbd” post_info_font_family=”Montserrat” post_info_letter_spacing=”-0.5″ date_size=”21″ button_text=”READ MORE” box_info_padding=”40px 5px 5px 5px” post_info_font_size=”20″ title_size=”28″ title_color=”#0076b2″ button_color=”#ffffff” button_hover_color=”#ffffff” button_background_color=”#43dbbd” button_hover_background_color=”#0076b2″ button_border_color=”#43dbbd” button_hover_border_color=”#0076b2″ category=”wetskills-netherlands-2021″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”54982\,54699\,57826\,1662\,1665″ column_number=”5″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”]Event Cases\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 1: A future-proof water system – How to handle heavy rainfall?\nCase owner: Water Authority Drents Overijsselse Delta \nDue to a changing climate\, The Netherlands is increasingly confronted with heavy rainfalls. Moreover the effects of the heavy rainfalls are quite difficult to predict and can happen around the year. The current water systems cannot always handle the enormous amount of water of such heavy rainfall\, which leads to negative effects. In the Netherlands\, the water authorities have the task of ensuring a robust water design of the area. New technical and social design principles can improve the current water system to be future-ready. How can Water Authority Drents Overijsselse Delta use the experiences from abroad to create a robust water system to handle heavy rainfalls? \nCase 2: How can various Blue Deal partnerships in different countries learn from each other? \nCase owner: Blue Deal programme by Dutch Water Authorities \nThe Blue Deal is a cooperation between the Dutch Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Infrastructure & Water Management and the Dutch Water Authorities to help 20 million people in 2030 with more\, better\, and safer water. One of the objectives of the Blue Deal Programme in 2022 is to institutionalise learning within the programme. Objective of this learning programme is to exchange experiences and knowledge between partnerships to raise the quality of work in the overall goal of reaching sustainable results. How can the Blue Deal Programme further innovate in\, and optimize the institutionalization of learning within the programme based on the lessons learned in different countries? \nCase 3: How can Water Credits reduce the global Water Footprint?\nCase owner: Water Authority Limburg \nWater is more and more considered as a sustainability value assessment by industries and governments. This at a time that local and global water supplies are under increased pressure of climate change and pollution. Therefore we advocate to realize a global standard for Water Credits. A standard similar to the international system of Carbon Credits. In this system the biggest polluters of greenhouse gasses compensate their emissions buying Carbon Credits. The collected money is then used to decline or compensate greenhouse gasses elsewhere. We are looking for a similar model. A model which triggers (big) water user and water polluters to reduce their water footprint or compensate their water footprint elsewhere. How can water credits with specific guidelines lead to an international standard to reduce water use and pollution? \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Pitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”59002″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””]Pitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”59002″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””]Pitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”59004″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Movies about previous Wetskills editions in the Netherlands\n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”58343″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53908″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53877″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56312″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52240″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”58830″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53285″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]

DESCRIPTION:About The Event\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Wetskills Water Challenge at AIWW 2019!\nWetskills organized a great Wetskills Water Challenge in Amsterdam\, linked to the Amsterdam International Water Week AIWW 2019. The Challenge started on October 25\, with the finals on November 7 as part of the AIWW program. \nTeams of students and young water professionals – 26 participants from 12 different countries – were working on real life water cases in a exciting two-week programme. Their main challenge: to think out-of-the-box and develop innovative\, realistic concepts. All participants also joined the AIWW Future Water Leaders Program. \nThe teams presented their ideas with a two minute pitch\, Q&A and a poster\, and the winning team was awarded by the jury during the AIWW Closing Ceremony: ‘And the winner… is Team 3\, with their plan for sustainable agriculture in peatlands. Congratulations!’ \n"It has indeed been a fruitful\, joyous and amazing time as the 26 participants spend two weeks enjoying each others company\, learning\,exploring and finding ways to work as a team together and solve six pressured\, difficult cases. This has in fact been an experience to remember for each and everyone participant for 2019!"\nWetskills started in 2010\, and so we will celebrate our 10-year jubileum next year! \nWatch the video of this event!\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Info\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Program Wetskills-The Netherlands 2019 \nAnnouncement for Participants Wetskills-The Netherlands 2019 \nTerms & Conditions Wetskills-The Netherlands 2019 \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_button icon_pack=”font_awesome” fa_icon=”fa-facebook” icon_position=”right” target=”_self” font_weight=”” text=”Attend on Facebook” link=”https://www.facebook.com/events/304251546898329/” icon_color=”#ffffff”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]About Wetskills\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Wetskills leaflet & track record \n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Follow Wetskills\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-facebook” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.facebook.com/Wetskills-496271977097972″ anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_facebook”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-twitter” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”http://twitter.com/wetskills” anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_twitter”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-instagram” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.instagram.com/wetskills/” anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_instagram”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-twitter” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.linkedin.com/groups/2949484″ anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_linkedin”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-youtube-square” fe_icon=”social_youtube” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJmPNM9roCkR1uvgJMHqpvA” anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px”] \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Blogs\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_blog_list type=”boxes” image_size=”landscape” show_thumbnail=”yes” number_of_columns=”4″ overlay_icon=”1″ order_by=”date” order=”DESC” title_tag=”h5″ display_excerpt=”1″ info_position=”top” post_info_text_transform=”none” post_info_font_weight=”700″ post_info_font_style=”normal” display_category=”0″ display_date=”1″ date_place=”over_title” display_author=”0″ display_comments=”0″ display_button=”1″ icon_pack=”font_elegant” fe_icon=”arrow_right” button_icon_position=”right” number_of_posts=”20″ overlay_color=”rgba(0\,221\,207\,0.59)” category=”Wetskills-Netherlands-2019″ text_length=”160″ title_size=”28″ title_color=”#0076b2″ post_info_font_size=”20″ post_info_color=”rgba(0\,221\,207\,0.59)” post_info_font_family=”Montserrat” post_info_letter_spacing=”-0\,5″ date_size=”21″ box_info_padding=”40px 5px 5px 5px” button_text=”READ MORE” button_background_color=”rgba(0\,221\,207\,0.59)” button_hover_background_color=”#0076b2″ button_border_color=”rgba(0\,221\,207\,0.59)” button_hover_border_color=”#0076b2″]Event Cases\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 1: Co-creation with stakeholders for a climate-proof area\nCase owner: Water Authority Hollands Noorderkwartier \nWater board HHNK is looking for ways to make their area climate-proof. As the water board is not on the bar to solve all problems\, all stakeholders have to join and work together\, from a social responsibility. But citizens and municipalities do not always take their role. How can these parties be brought into an active position for co-creation\, so that they can make their own contribution for a climate-proof environment? What is needed to strengthen the responsibilities of citizens and municipalities? \nFinal Poster \n\nTeam 1: Driving Sustainability Forward – If climate can change\, we need U to change 2\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56950″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””]Case 2: Sustainable water and sanitation services for school children in Ghana\nCase owner: VEI\, WaterWorX & Ghana Water Company Limited \nOf all schools in low-income countries\, only 51% have access to adequate water sources and only 45% have adequate sanitation facilities\, according to UNICEF\, while WASH facilities and hygiene education in schools contribute to inclusion\, dignity and equity. In Ghana\, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) wants to ensure that an additional 19 schools are provided with adequate water and sanitation services. Funds are available\, intentions are there; the question is: how can GWCL (in partnership with VEI and the WaterWorx program) ensure sustainable water and sanitation for the school children in their service area? \nFinal Poster \n\nTeam 2: Creating a safe place in an unsafe world – by uniting communities through waste\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56952″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””]Case 3: Effective water management in a pressure drain dominated peatland\nCase owner: Water Authority Drents Overijsselse Delta \nPressure drains might be an effective solution to mitigate land subsidence in peatlands\, as they can increase the ground water table in summer and lower it in winter time\, thereby reducing the oxidation rate of the peat soil. However\, it implies that the ground water table can be managed at a finer scale than is common at present. Water requirements may rise\, the timing of water needs may change\, and the farm landscape might become more diversified. How could water authorities and farmers manage such new water management measures? \nFinal Poster – Winning Team!\n \n\nTeam 3: Let’s Stop Sinking Effective Management of Peatlands & Gaining Trust\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56948″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 4: Enabling decentralized water quality management in rural communities in Tanzania\nCase owner: IHE Delft\n \nThe villages of the lower Mara area\, Tanzania\, rely on surface water and boreholes for most of their water needs. The communities are heavily affected by declining water quality\, with pollution causing health issues and impacting fisheries and agriculture. Existing initiatives for community-based environmental monitoring typically focus on generating data for authorities and science\, and rural water supply schemes typically focus on water quantity. How could an autonomous and systematic water quality monitoring and water treatment be integrated into community-based management of water resources and water supply? \nFinal Poster \n\nTeam 4: Dirty Water Playbook – The Key to Decentralized Water Supply & Monitoring in the Lower Mara Communities\, Tanzinia\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”57009″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””]Case 5: Break the production chains\, for a circular economy!\nCase owner: Municipality of Westland \nThe municipality of Westland is a partner in the ‘BioBoost initiative’\, which aims to stimulate a biobased development in horticulture in Europe. This case focuses on rethinking the chain for biomass (wet) residual flows\, f.e. rest products of tomatoes\, in the Westland hortisector. The aim is to create value and a new purpose for upscaled products. How can we make changes\, in early stages of the production chain\, to create an optimal result? What kind of technical solutions could be viable? And what kind of legal challenges lay ahead? \nFinal Poster \n\nTeam 5: Break the Chain – Nanotechnology for Circulair Economy\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56954″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””]Case 6: Transforming water use in subsistence farming for climate change adaptation in Zambia\nCase owner: IHE Delft\n \nClimate change heavily affects southern Africa\, with extensive droughts and torrential rains\, temperature extremes\, and the collapse of seasonal weather patterns. It affects the food supply of communities in Western Zambia that could historically rely on subsistence farming. Improving water supply though boreholes provides short-term relief\, but is not a long-term solution. How to create an approach for water challenges in subsistence farming communities? How to tranform agricultural water use\, considering all possible sources of water on the one hand\, and all aspects of farming practice – what is grown\, when and how – on the other? \nFinal Poster \n\nTeam 6: Buckets of Resilience – Building climate resilience using low-cost community-based bucket solutions\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56958″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””]Movies about previous Wetskills editions in the Netherlands\n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”53104″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53105″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53877″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”53101″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”56309″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”56312″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52240″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”52257″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52146″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52245″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”55054″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””]

DESCRIPTION:About The Event\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Wetskills for the fourth time to The Netherlands! \n  \nA fish passage in a polder that only opens at a certain level of rainfall: This new fish migration system won the Wetskills challenge on 2 November. The winning team received their award from Nomvula Mokonyane\, the South African Minister for Water and Sanitation during the closing session of the Amsterdam International Water Week Conference. \nIt was the fourth time the challenge for young water professionals took place in the Netherlands and was again hosted at the Amsterdam Internati \nonal Water Week. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMixed teams\nFor two weeks\, 23 participants from around the world worked in mixed teams on cases of governments\, companies\, knowledge institutes and water aut \nhorities from home and abroad. Their goal: finding innovative solutions for current water-related challenges. \nThe participating students and young professionals came from all over the world\, such as Oman\, Egypt\, India\, Kyrgyzstan\, Honduras\, Israel\, South Africa\, and Indonesia. \nThey were guided by water professionals from the Netherlands. \n\n  \nMore information\nFor more information contact Floor van der Heijden (floor.van.der.heijden@wetskills.com)\, Frank Tibben (frank.tibben@wetskills.com) or Johan Oost (johan.oost@wetskills.com). \nPractical Information\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_button icon_pack=”font_awesome” fa_icon=”fa-facebook” icon_position=”right” target=”_self” font_weight=”” text=”Attend on Facebook” link=”https://www.facebook.com/events/1887814874789933/” icon_color=”#ffffff”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Programme: Flyer Preliminary Program Wetskills-The Netherlands 2017 \nStudy cases: Overview of study cases Wetskills-The Netherlands 2017 \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Facts: \nParticipants: 20 \nCountries: 10 (South Africa\, Honduras\, The Netherlands\, Romania\, Kyrgyzstan\, Israel\, Egypt\, India\, Oman\, Indonesia) \nCases: 6 \nLocations: Amsterdam\, Heerhugowaard\, Enclosure Dam\, Leeuwarden\, Zwolle\, Kampen\, Schokland (Flevoland)\, Nieuwegein\, Rotterdam \nEvent: Amsterdam International Water Week \n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Cases\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 1: Stimulating a sustainable positive ‘green’ behavior for stakeholders\nCase owner: Water Authority Hollands Noorderkwartier (HHNK) \nFor almost 50 years HHNK has been working on improving the water quality in the Northern part of the province North-Holland. At first surface water was black\, then became green and is now becoming even clearer. However there is still room for improvement. A large part of this improvement is the mentality of North-Hollands citizens\, farmers and industries. For that reason HHNK is looking for a tool by which we can stimulate or facilitate positive sustainable ‘green’ behaviour. \nCase 2: Will you unleash the energetic potential of small streams?\nCase owner: VP Delta \nThe flat Netherlands is a small delta country\, shaped by lowland rivers flowing into the sea. This country\, full of innovation power in water management\, has several companies developing hydropower stations requiring minimal hydraulic head\, ideally for the Dutch context. Globally\, hydropower stations have almost exclusively been placed in large dams or rivers with high discharges. Can you come up with international business strategies for these small hydropower stations and help these stations create a large impact in the world? \nCase 3: Saving the city lake from Ahmedabad for polluted water (India)\nCase owner: Center for Environment Education Ahmedabad and Chasing Water Dreams Challenge \nThe City of Ahmedabad is the third fastest growing cities in the world with almost 400\,000 new inhabitants each year. Good water quality is inevitable to provide its citizens good drinking water and safe environments. Mean threats for the water system are the seawater intrusion\, depletion of ground water\, industrial effluents and sewage wastewater. Especially the effluents pollute the river causing health hazards to the people residing near the outlets and destroying the ecosystem. During monsoon the 26 city lakes are filled with floodwater mixed with polluted river water. Solutions are requested for safeguarding the city lakes from contamination of wastewater and to know how they socio-politically can be conserved. \nNote: This case is the winner of the Chasing Water Dreams: the Challenge \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Final poster & pitch \n[vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”53839″][vc_empty_space height=”8px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Final poster & pitch \n[vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”53840″][vc_empty_space height=”8px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Final poster & pitch \n[vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”53841″][vc_empty_space height=”8px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 4: Increasing fish migration to comply to EU directives\nCase owner: Waternet (for water authority Amstel\, Gooi en Vecht) \nTo achieve the goals for the EU Water framework and EU Eel directive\, measures have to be taken to improve the possibilities for fish migration. In Dutch poldersystems the watersystem is very fragmented. Many dams and weirs form barriers for fish. Waternet challenges their team of young water professionals to design a new or improved way to create fish passages at weirs in polder systems. Existing techniques are not used often\, because of unwanted effects on waterlevel\, waterquality and relatively high costs. \nCase 5: Taking climate adaptation measures: A public or private matter?\nCase owner: Water authority Drents Overijsselse Delta (WDOD) \nClimate change leads to heat stress caused by higher temperatures and flooding because of extreme showers beyond the capacity of the drainage infrastructure. Climate adaptation measures are necessary to deal with these effects of climate change. However\, both the government and the private landowners could take adaptation measures. WDOD would like an advice to support decision making on when to take stimulate climate adaptation measures in the public and when in private areas. \nCase 6: Decentralized water solutions for neighborhood participation\nCase owner: Province of Flevoland \nThe (future) inhabitants in Almere Oosterwold (4300 hectares\, 15.000 households) are in charge of to create their own livelihood without support of the municipality\, including wastewater services. Most inhabitants install a decentralized wastewater treatment system. This might cause pollution of the surface water. Current monitoring is expensive\, so only 5 locations are yearly tested 12 times. The new ‘Living lab Oosterwold’ programme aims on real-life testing of innovative sanitation systems in coming years. How can we better and simpler monitor the water quality and invite the inhabitants to monitor their sanitation system? \nFinal poster & pitch \n[vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”53842″][vc_empty_space height=”8px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Final poster & pitch \n[vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”53843″][vc_empty_space height=”8px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Final poster & pitch \n[vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”53844″][vc_empty_space height=”8px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]The Wetskills organization is always looking for Case Owners\, companies/organisations that formulate their case and support the Wetskills programmes worldwide. For more information: contact Johan Oost (johan.oost@wetskills.com). \nPrevious events in The Netherlands\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”2327\,2371\,2367″ column_number=”5″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”53104″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53105″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52247″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”53101″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53102″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52318″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52154″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”53285″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52168″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53336″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53337″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”52257″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52146″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52245″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52243″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””]Event Blogs\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_blog_list type=”boxes” image_size=”landscape” show_thumbnail=”yes” number_of_columns=”3″ overlay_icon=”1″ order_by=”date” order=”DESC” title_tag=”h5″ display_excerpt=”1″ info_position=”top” post_info_text_transform=”none” post_info_font_weight=”700″ post_info_font_style=”normal” display_category=”0″ display_date=”1″ date_place=”over_title” display_author=”0″ display_comments=”0″ display_button=”1″ icon_pack=”font_elegant” fe_icon=”arrow_right” button_icon_position=”right” vertical_align_text=”middle” date_position=”in_icon” border_around_item=”no” separator=”yes” display_circle_button=”1″ enable_circle_button_shaddow=”1″ number_of_posts=”3″ overlay_color=”rgba(0\,221\,207\,0.59)” text_length=”133″ post_info_color=”#43dbbd” post_info_font_family=”Montserrat” post_info_letter_spacing=”-0.5″ date_size=”21″ button_text=”READ MORE” box_info_padding=”40px 5px 5px 5px” post_info_font_size=”20″ title_size=”28″ title_color=”#0076b2″ button_color=”#ffffff” button_hover_color=”#ffffff” button_background_color=”#43dbbd” button_hover_background_color=”#0076b2″ button_border_color=”#43dbbd” button_hover_border_color=”#0076b2″ category=”wetskills-the-netherlands”]
