Wetskills Ambassador Henk Ovink launched new Wetskills website
Henk Ovink become the first Ambassador of the Wetskills Water Challenge programme recently. In his role as Special Envoy for International Water Affairs at Kingdom of the Netherlands, Henks ambition is to have more impact to tackle the world water water challenges as climate change, water scarcity. ‘For me Wetskills is a crucial approach to building capacity, raising awareness and increasing opportunities for innovations world wide. Wetskills builds a coalition between students and practice, between professionals and people, to learn, research, exchange and implement.’
During the State visit of the Royal Family of The Netherlands to Canada (27-29 May), Henk mentioned Wetskills several times during his presentations. Besides the Dutch education delegation visited the host of the last Wetskills event in Toronto: Ryerson University. Ryerson University hosted a networking event and presented the concept of Wetskills, the programme of last year and the results. The Dutch minister of education Jet Bussemaker was listening carefully and during her speech she described: ‘Wetskills is really great‘ and ‘great idea’ to bring together students and present them with challenging cases to be solved’.
The new Wetskills website shows all events and results of the Wetskills teams of the past five years in an original way. Johan Oost, programme manger Wetskills: ‘So much happened last five years, with so many people and energy. I hope that we collected this energyin a nice and open way to present our story and get a better communication with publications, pictures and movies.’
