PDAM Semarang is committed to expanding and improving its water supply infrastructure to ensure comprehensive city coverage\, aiming to transition residents from groundwater to more sustainable PDAM water options. This initiative is part of PDAM Tirta Moedal’s vision to deliver 4K aspects (Quality\, Quantity\, Continuity\, and Affordability) in areas with established networks. What are the main challenges for PDAM? and how can they effectively and innovatively manage this transition for the community? with the aim of reducing private groundwater use and thereby decrease land subsidence. \nCase 2: Opportunities for Water Footprint Compensation \nCase owner: FoxallMunro \n\nGlobal water resources are under pressure. Regulatory and restorative actions on the local or watershed level are needed to prevent further pressure. To respond to this need we intend to build upon the link between water consumption for production to water compensation activities. As a progression from the 2023 Cape Town pilot water compensation project to determine the feasibility of community capacity building in water management as a water footprint compensation activity\, and the subsequent publishing of the water footprint compensation framework at the NY UN Water Summit\, this case intends to be the next step in building up a portfolio of global water compensation projects for organisations to invest in\, once they have calculated\, addressed and reduced their footprints as much as possible. \n\nCase 3: Practising Eco Theology in Pesantren through Water and Waste Management \nCase owners: Percik & Universitas Sebelas Maret \nIslam contributes significantly to environmental conservation through its teachings and principles. Despite this\, many Islamic communities\, especially in Indonesia\, face challenges with waste generation and water usage. Each person wastes 0.68 kg of waste daily\, and Muslims require 1.5 liters of water for prayer preparation. This case seeks to delve into these challenges\, particularly in Islamic institutions like boarding schools\, and understand leaders’ perspectives on water availability. The objective is to address current environmental issues and to find solutions while considering practical aspects of eco-theology. \nPrevious Wetskills events\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”901\,51988\,53474\,53618\,53747″ column_number=”5″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”54042″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”54040″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”56309″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”63207″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”63209″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”54043″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”63206″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52373″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”54106″ img_size=”220×220″ alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”63210″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”57038″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”54101″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””]

In Irbid\, in the North of Jordan\, World Waternet has a Water Operators Partnership with Yarmouk Water Company\, the drinking water and waste water company. For this case we want to find solutions on how rainwater can be harvested and used in a later stage. The short rainfall period causes overflows of the sewerage system and it is a struggle to produce enough drinking water. Irbid is warm\, water demand is high\, for both households as well as industries and agriculture. Making use of nature based solutions\, how can rainwater be harvested? Where can this water be stored? And how to reduce the need for drinking water\, and prepare for future changes like climate change and a growing population? \nCase 2: Water Quality Monitoring\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case owner: World Waternet\n \nEnsuring safe drinking water is vital for public health\, yet maintaining water quality in distribution networks presents challenges. Scarce water amplifies contamination risks\, aggravated by inadequate sanitation. Collaborative efforts and innovative technologies are key. For this case\, the task is to design a cost-effective monitoring and communication plan\, adhering to WHO standards. Using two case study areas\, North Hebron and Salfit area in the West Bank\, the monitoring system should be adapted to regional circumstances and constraints\, like considering possible contamination by rooftop tanks\, supply interruptions\, contamination hotspots\, climate change\, and existing lab infrastructure. \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Poster & Pitch \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Poster & Pitch – winning team! \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 3: Rainwater Harvesting for farmer communities\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case owner: Acacia Water\n \nThis case is part of a project by Acacia Water\, to promote\, pilot and have discussions about rainwater harvesting and nature-based solutions in Jordan. The project is supported by the Dutch Embassy\, with an ambitious portfolio of work on the role of nature in helping to address societal challenges\, like water and soil conservation\, and climate change mitigation. The assignment for this case: How can the widespread adoption of rainwater harvesting and nature based solutions for farmer communities be realized\, through a comprehensive model that ensures sustainable integration of strategies\, taking into account all relevant factors\, such as water security\, employment prospects\, effective communication and community engagement? \nCase 4: Sustainable Wastewater Reuse\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case owner: GIZ \nWastewater reuse is a sustainable approach to address water scarcity and environmental concerns. Treatment of wastewater and repurposing the effluent for various non-potable applications\, such as irrigation and industrial processes\, could be a way to reduce pollution and at the same time conserve freshwater resources. The project is working on promoting a more efficient and responsible water management system. The assignment for this case is: Assess the feasibility and potential benefits of implementing a wastewater reuse system in a specific region or industry. And also: how should social acceptance of using treated wastewater for landscape irrigation be defined? \nCase 5: Action-driven follow-up of great ideas\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case owner: AYGV & Wetskills\n \n‘Stop Talking\, Start Doing and talks in Arabic’. That was the result of the Arab Youth Green Voices (AYGV) participation on COP27 In Sharm Al-Sheikh in 2022. AYGV and Wetskills are youth programs which have been uniting talent for more than a decade. A lot of co-creation (like Wetskills ideas) and community building have been realized. The challenge of this case: Empowering an Alumni Community for Action-driven follow-up of great ideas in Arab Countries. How can AYGV and Wetskills accelerate follow-up activities of fresh (WetsNext) ideas with the combined Water Talent Community? \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Poster & Pitch \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Poster & Pitch\n \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Poster & Pitch\n \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”57038″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”61991″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”57060″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”61992″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52373″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”62043″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”54106″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””]
