But ‘spate irrigation’ is depending on such sudden surges\, as it is all about the productive use of short\, seasonal and relatively predictable floods. This age-old method of irrigation has been used for centuries\, in many arid or semi-arid regions. In this Wetskills Challenge we invite you to develop pathways for spate irrigation: How can we re-value spate irrigation\, ensuring that this ancient\, climate-adaptive\, and resilient method does not fade away? How can we champion this from local to global scale\, safeguarding a crucial part of our heritage and sustainable future? \nCase 2: The true value of (Waste)Water\nCase owner: Waternet\, Programme Circular Economy & Water System \nWaternet wants to design a value case to ensure a continuous service provision of water to the companies of the port of Amsterdam. How can this be done in a such a way that social\, environmental\, and business needs are equally being taken into account\, thereby contributing to a just transition? Building on available frameworks and international programmes\, this local case study brings these conceptual works into action\, as a means to valorize and further enhance a value-based approach to business development. \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px”]Pitch & poster \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px”]Pitch & poster \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_empty_space]Case 3: Stakeholder Involvement in the Greater North Sea Basin\nCase owner: Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management (The Netherlands)\n \nCountries around the North Sea have set high ambitions for offshore wind developments\, while there is also the need to counter biodiversity loss\, strengthen the marine ecosystem\, a sustainable fishery sector\, and clean and safe shipping. All countries work together in the ‘Greater North Sea Basin Initiative’ to strengthen the international and cross-sectoral cooperation that is needed to reach these ambitions. This challenge is about Stakeholder Management: In the explorative phase\, the focuss is on involving national governments and the European Commission. Next step is to find ways to effectively involve the (inter)national stakeholders of the North Sea\, so that their expertise\, knowledge and interests can be taken into account. \nCase 4: Accelerating Gender Mainstreaming in the water domain\nCase owner: International Centre for Water Security and Sustainable Management (i-WSSM) under the auspices of UNESCO\n \nWomen and girls are disproportionally exposed to water-related challenges such as waterborne diseases and limited access to water. On the other hand\, in many developing countries\, women and girls are key stakeholders to manage and conserve water resources at the local/community levels. Considering UNESCO’s Call for Action ‘Accelerating gender equality in the water domain’ – provide your thoughts on the following: Which are the most vulnerable regions? Which actions are needed to be implemented as a priority? In your thinking process\, consider priority areas\, action plans and recommendations by UNESCO and other UN organizations. \nCase 5: Transformation of former port areas\nCase owner: City of Rotterdam\, Climate Adaptation Programme WeatherWise \nThis case study is a challenge for your creativity and imagination. You will explore innovative urban transformations in Hamburg\, Copenhagen and Rotterdam\, by re-imagining former port zones into sustainable\, climate-resilient\, and dynamic urban spaces. How can this be done? For this challenge\, you will delve into multifaceted challenges and creative solutions\, including climate adaptation\, renewable energy integration\, smart mobility and biodiversity enhancement\, to offer  valuable insights for urban development worldwide. \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px”]Pitch & poster – winning team! \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_single_image image=”62690″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank”]Pitch & poster \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_single_image image=”62691″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank”]Pitch & poster \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_single_image image=”62692″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank”]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”58343″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53908″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53877″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52373″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”62435″][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”57924″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”62433″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”62658″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””]More Wetskills events in The Netherlands\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”57824″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]

The WaterWorX program in the Palestinian Territories is looking for feasible\, out-of-the-box ideas to implement and support the overall goal of improved access to water and better human and environmental health. Taking into account the water footprint data available for the West Bank\, existing options to save/generate/harvest water in the field and the concept of water footprint compensation\, how can we create awareness on limited water availability and come up with practical solutions to save/optimize water use suitable for the Palestinian context? \nCase 2: Monitoring for safe water access in the Hebron Hospital\nCase owner: Red Cross & Red Crescent \nIn Palestine\, public utilities are responsible for supplying adequate and safe water (good water quality) in a regular basis. However\, it’s not the reality on the ground.  Therefore\, on-site storage of water is a common practice to ensure a continuous access to safe and adequate water. But\, the on-site storage of water influences the quality of stored water. Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS)\, part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement provides hospitals\, emergency medicine and ambulance services\, and primary health care centers in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip\, like one in Hebron. Hebron Hospital struggles to maintain a good\, consistent\, and reliable water quality to ensure quality healthcare services. How can the Hebron Hospital ensure access to a constant and good water quality\, which can be transparently monitored by the PRCS staff to monitor? \nCase 3: BlueElephant – From wastewater to infinite water\nCase owner: Dutch Water Authorities / World Waternet (Blue Deal Program) \n\nIn the West Bank\, the majority of the wastewater is collected and stored in septic tanks or similar systems\, and discharged untreated in the environment. There might be a great potential to treat and reuse this wastewater. To accelerate solving some of the most urgent water challenges a small-scale decentralized and mobile wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) was developed by a public-private partnership of Dutch organisations; the BluElephant. By treating wastewater and making alternative water sources available for agricultural or other types of uses\, the BlueElephant technology can also be a method for water footprint compensation. How to stimulate the use of treated wastewater and make the BluElephant technology financially sustainable in Palestine? \n\nPitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”59971″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank” qode_css_animation=””]Pitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”59972″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank” qode_css_animation=””]Pitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”59970″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 4: Smart solutions for water monitoring and loss reduction\nCase owner: Bank of Palestine & Palestinian Water Authority \n\nWater scarcity is a harsh reality for the Arab region. As a result\, reducing losses from water supply systems is of great environmental importance in the region\, but also in other parts of the world. Reducing water losses in drinking water distribution networks is very important from both a social\, environmental\, and economic standpoint. In Palestine 37.5% is the average of water losses on the national level. When reducing this amount\, more water is available for all stakeholders. How can the Palestinian Water Authority with its stakeholders better control water losses and in the same time monitoring the quality and quantity of water for the water distribution systems? \n\nCase 5: Reuse of wastewater from hospitals\nCase owner: Red Cross & Red Crescent \nAccess to clean and well-maintained sanitation facilities is required for quality healthcare service. In addition\, proper management of healthcare wastewater is essential to protect the public health. As wastewater from healthcare facilities can contain pharmaceuticals residues\, chemical reagents\, pathogens\, medicines\, and other harmful matters\, unsafe management of this wastewater can impose significant risks to public health and the environment. The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS)\, part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement provides hospitals\, emergency medicine and ambulance services\, and primary health care centers in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip\, like one in Hebron. How could the Hebron Hospital improve wastewater  management in a more sustainable and cost-effective way to make it safe for the environment? \nPitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”59969″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank” qode_css_animation=””]Pitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”59973″ img_size=”full” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”59319″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”59320″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”57038″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”52373″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”59563″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52240″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”59582″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”53311″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”54106″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”57060″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”57060″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”59593″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”59594″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”59592″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”59595″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””]Join this Wetskills event!\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]

DESCRIPTION:About The Event\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Wetskills Event in Denmark!\nWetskills Foundation organized a Wetskills Water Challenge for the first time in Denmark. This (live!) event started on 15 August 2021 in and around the inspiring City of Copenhagen – surrounded by water and very active in Climate Adaptation. \nIn the Wetskills-Denmark group we had participants from 5 different nationalities! During the 2-weeks program they worked in international\, multidisciplinary teams on real-life water cases. The finals and awarding were an online webinar\, accessible for interested professionals from Europe and beyond. And the winning team was …  Team Rotterdam &  Copenhagen – Congratulations! \nThe 2020/2021 central theme of Wetskills Events\, celebrating 10 years of Wetskills: \n‘VALUING FUTURE WATER LEADERS SHAKING THE WATER-ENERGY-FOOD COCKTAIL WITH THEIR INCLUSIVE & CATALYTIC CAPACITY’. \n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Watch the Video of Wetskills-Denmark 2021\nPractical Information\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Programme Wetskills-Denmark 2021 \nAnnouncement for Participants Wetskills-Denmark 2021 \nTerms & Conditions Wetskills-Denmark 2021 \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_button icon_pack=”font_awesome” fa_icon=”fa-facebook” icon_position=”right” target=”_blank” font_weight=”” text=”Attend on Facebook” link=”https://www.facebook.com/events/780400045965303/” icon_color=”#ffffff”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Watch the video of Wetskills-The Netherlands 2019!\n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Follow Wetskills\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-facebook” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.facebook.com/Wetskills-496271977097972″ anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_facebook”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-twitter” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”http://twitter.com/wetskills” anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_twitter”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-instagram” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.instagram.com/wetskills/” anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_instagram”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-twitter” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.linkedin.com/groups/2949484″ anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px” fe_icon=”social_linkedin”]     [no_icons icon_pack=”font_elegant” fa_icon=”fa-youtube-square” fe_icon=”social_youtube” fa_size=”fa-lg” custom_size=”30″ type=”normal” rotated_shape=”no” icon_shadow=”no” inner_border=”no” back_to_top_icon=”” link=”https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJmPNM9roCkR1uvgJMHqpvA” anchor_icon=”” target=”_blank” icon_color=”#0076b2″ hover_icon_color=”#43dbbd” margin=”0px 12px 0px 0px”] \nEvent Blogs\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_blog_list type=”boxes” image_size=”landscape” show_thumbnail=”yes” number_of_columns=”3″ overlay_icon=”1″ order_by=”date” order=”DESC” title_tag=”h5″ display_excerpt=”1″ info_position=”top” post_info_text_transform=”none” post_info_font_weight=”700″ post_info_font_style=”normal” display_category=”0″ display_date=”1″ date_place=”over_title” display_author=”0″ display_comments=”0″ display_button=”1″ icon_pack=”font_elegant” fe_icon=”arrow_right” button_icon_position=”right” vertical_align_text=”middle” date_position=”in_icon” border_around_item=”no” separator=”yes” display_circle_button=”1″ enable_circle_button_shaddow=”1″ number_of_posts=”6″ overlay_color=”rgba(0\,221\,207\,0.59)” text_length=”200″ post_info_color=”#43dbbd” post_info_font_family=”Montserrat” post_info_letter_spacing=”-0.5″ date_size=”21″ button_text=”READ MORE” box_info_padding=”40px 5px 5px 5px” post_info_font_size=”20″ title_size=”28″ title_color=”#0076b2″ button_color=”#ffffff” button_hover_color=”#ffffff” button_background_color=”#43dbbd” button_hover_background_color=”#0076b2″ button_border_color=”#43dbbd” button_hover_border_color=”#0076b2″ category=”Wetskills-Denmark”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”58683\,58680\,58659\,58678\,58676″ column_number=”5″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”]Event Cases\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 1: Sensoring the Climate in your own backyard\nCase owner: City of Zwolle (The Netherlands) \nClimate is mostly considered on a more national and regional level rather than neighborhood levels. The City of Zwolle launched the SensHagen project where citizens voluntarily placed sensors to measure data as temperature\, precipitation\, and air quality. With this crowd sourcing project\, both city and citizen know which part of the neighborhood is coolest or has the best air quality\, which is great when you are doing your exercise round. But measuring data does not necessarily lead to more climate adaptive behavior. How do we take the next step from measuring to action? And what role do partners (governmental and non-governmental) play in this transition? \nCase 2: Protecting existing settlements at the Falsterbo Peninsula in Sweden\nCase owner: Statens Geotekniska Institut (Sweden)\, Dragør Municipality (Denmark) and Water Authority Hollands Noorderkwartier (The Netherlands) \nFlood safety\, spatial planning\, including stakeholder participation\, and nature ambitions can sometimes state challenging or even contradictory goals. At the Falsterbo Peninsula\, Sweden\, the built environment is prone to flooding and the direct surrounding area has high natural\, recreational and cultural values. The stakes are high\, the stakeholders are many and the available space without previous claims almost nonexistent. If you had full flexibility\, meaning no restrictions by any regulation\, what would your optimal adaptive design to protect existing settlements without causing unacceptable harm to other stakeholders be\, and how would you guide the process towards the implementation of this design? \nCase 3: Innovative stormwater treatment and retention solutions in cities\nCase owner: City of Copenhagen & City of Rotterdam \nCopenhagen and Rotterdam are seeking innovative ideas\, technologies\, and approaches for how stormwater can be successfully captured and treated to optimize benefits\, reduce risks to public health\, and promote co-benefits. By doing so\, stormwater can be caught during wet periods and re-used in times when it’s dry. Proposed solutions should consider the role water treatment or reuse can play in reducing flows to drainage systems and wastewater treatment facilities. It is important to consider the opportunities and challenges for implementation as well. How can both cities manage the contaminants found in stormwater that can pose issues to public health and the environment\, comply with current guidelines\, and overcome other barriers to achieve the desired benefits of proposed stormwater treatment and reuse practices? \n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Pitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”58691″ img_size=”large” qode_css_animation=””]Pitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”58692″ img_size=”large” qode_css_animation=””]Pitch & Poster \n[vc_single_image image=”58693″ img_size=”large” qode_css_animation=””]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”57646″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”57671″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”57038″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”58280″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”58281″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”58514″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”55337″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”57644″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”58515″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53101″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”57060″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”57564\,57562\,57561\,57563\,57565″ column_number=”5″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”]

Mekong delta has salty groundwater due to saline water intrusion\, while rainwater is only available in the rainy season. KIST researchers try to find solutions for this water supply problem. How can water be provided to citizens in Mekong delta? \nFinal Poster \n\nTeam 1: Innovation on Rainwater harvesting techniques\n\n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56246″ img_size=”large” qode_css_animation=””]Case 2: Culture: Catalyst of water transitions\nCase owner: Province of Fryslan \nIn the coming decades\, we face major water challenges in the urban environment (both quality and quantity management). In the City of Leeuwarden in The Netherlands\, important steps have been taken with regard to water quality over the past 20 years. Climate adaptation is a major new challenge. Interventions will be necessary\, and are going to affect people’s lifes in the city. Important is the support and acceptance of the citizens. How can ‘culture’ increase the acceptance of citizens\, so they increasingly support the necessary climate change interventions? After all\, Result = Quality x Acceptance. \nFinal Poster – Winning team!\n \n\nTeam 2: Creating cultural solutions to raise water awareness\n\n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56248″ img_size=”large” qode_css_animation=””]Case 3: Coastal villages adaptive to sea level rise\nCase owner: Water Authority Noorderkwartier \nOne of the tasks of Water Authority HHNK is to manage and maintain the primary flood defense systems. Along their coastline\, where part of the dunes are the primary flood defense system\, erosion is taking place. To stabilize erosion\, the Dutch national government has set up a nourishment scheme to keep up with sea level rise. When sea level rising persists\, this scheme might not be enough for the protection of the villages situated in the dunes. The Wetskills team is challenged to come up with different/new adaptation options for an imaginary village along the HHNK coastline. \nFinal Poster \n\nTeam 3: Solutions for gradual and safe adaptation to sea level rise\n\n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56249″ img_size=”large” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 4: Sustainable Future: Water & Energy\nCase owner: Waternet Water Authority Amsterdam \nFor 2040\, Amsterdam wants all energy used in the city to come from renewable resources. If the city wants to have a 100% sustainable energy supply\, they have to find new sustainable energy sources in the near future. Waternet\, the city’s Water Authority\, is looking for ways in which water can contribute to this energy transition. During the previous Wetskills-South Korea edition in 2018\, the assigned (winning) team came up with the ‘Water Wide Web’: an energy network that can store energy on different levels close to households. The challenge for the new team now is to come up with a practical implementation strategy for this ‘web’. \nFinal Poster \n\nTeam 4: Water conservation and renewable energy\n\n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56244″ img_size=”large” qode_css_animation=””]Case 5: South Korea’s virtual water trade\nCase owner: Water Footprint Implementation \nSouth Korea is one of the largest net ‘virtual water import’ countries for agricultural products. At the same time\, more than 50% of South Korea’s exports are electronics\, machinery and other type of equipment. Other notable exports are refined petroleum and minerals. All with a large ‘domestic Water Footprint’. How is ‘virtual water trade’ affecting the sustainability and security of water resources in South Korea? And what is the relationship in virtual water trade with a trade partner like Mexico? \nFinal Poster \n\nTeam 5: Balancing the virtual water\n\n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”56251″ img_size=”large” qode_css_animation=””]More Event Pictures on South Korea 2018 & 2019\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”56055\,56056\,56057\,56058″ img_size=”large” column_number=”4″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”56059\,56060\,56061\,56062″ img_size=”large” column_number=”4″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”55942\,55943\,55944\,55945″ img_size=”large” column_number=”4″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”55949\,55948\,55947\,55946″ img_size=”large” column_number=”4″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”53727\,53669\,53670\,53708″ img_size=”large” column_number=”4″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”53800\,53798\,53801\,53799″ img_size=”large” column_number=”4″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”]The programme of 2018\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]The Finals & Awarding in 2018\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”53765″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53274″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”56307″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”55013″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”52334″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53275″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”55019″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”55020″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”55012″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53766″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53767″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53101″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”52373″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”54106″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53546″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”53764″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””]

See Leaflet Case Sponsors Wetskills-United Kingdom 2017. \nFor more information\, contact Johan Oost (johan.oost@wetskills.com) or for local companies/organisations in United Kingdom: Chrysoula Papacharalampou (chrysoula.papacharalampou@wetskills.com). \n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 1: Temporary water (un)safety \nCase owner: Hoogheemraadschap Delfland \nDelfland examines its dikes to asses if they technically comply to the normative safety standards. Sometimes the assessment results are below the safety requirements and reinforcement is required. The time between the (below standard) results and the improvements can take years largely due to the variety of stakeholder interests. Delfland needs a strategy and location specific solutions for the below standard dikes in this period to ensure safety for the inhabitants in the low-lands. \nCase owner: \ninformation will be provided in a later stage \nCase 2: Implementing City BluePrint of Bath \nCase owner: Water Innovation Research Centre of the University of Bath & WaterShare (KWR Watercycle Research Institute) \nThe City BluePrint is an objective tool to provide an overview of the water management of cities and the governance capacity to implement changes for improvement. The City BluePrint will be developed for Bath. The team is challenges to think in ways to do more with the outcomes of this City BluePrint of Bath. \nMore information will be provided in a later stage \n[vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”]Case 3: Impactful cooperation between Young Water Professionals in Europe \nCase owner: European Water Traineeship \n“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them” (Albert Einstein). Even as more or less developed region in the World\, Europe faces many water challenges: Droughts\, Flood events\, Climate changes\, Pollution. As Albert Einstein mentioned: we need creative concepts to solve these challenges. Young Water Professionals (YWP) in Europe are ready to take these water challenges\, but what is a European YWP? How can YWPs overcome the challenges of cross-boundary corporation in Europe and work together in a more systematic way? \nCase 4: Citizens\, businesses and government in action for a waterproof Westland \nCase owner: Westland Municipality \nWestland is characterized by a patchwork of interlaced horticultural and residential functions. During intensive rainfall\, the water system cannot drain the water quickly enough\, resulting in increased water levels and flood risk. Till now the policy is to use the available storage capacity of the water system. However\, researches have shown that the storage capacity in the area has reached its limits. That is why we search for additional measures to retain water instead of draining the water: In cooperation with all stakeholders! \n[vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”52328\,52329\,52330\,52331\,52332″ column_number=”5″ grayscale=”no” hover_icon=”none” images_space=”gallery_with_space”]Event Partners\n[vc_single_image image=”50762″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”52372″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52371″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52148″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52771″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”52254″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52781″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52318″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52155″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”52793″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52243″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52155″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””][vc_single_image image=”52155″ img_size=”220×125″ style=”vc_box_rounded” qode_css_animation=””]Join this Wetskills event!\n[vc_empty_space height=”16px” image_repeat=”no-repeat”][no_button icon_pack=”” target=”_self” font_weight=”” text=”Register” link=”/wetskills-united-kingdom-2017-registration/” hover_border_color=”#ffffff” border_width=”2″ border_color=”#ffffff” margin=”0% 0% 0% 40%”]
