The team along with faculties from JDTI  started the journey. All of us were excited about the trip ,the hairpin bends up the Weatern Ghats to the destination made the trip more thrilling. On the way we had stopped for sight seeing and had a delicious breakfast arranged by our host. Our first stop was an old tea estate in Kerala which was built by the british. The placed offered the history and the evolution of tea and tea plantation. We also came to the knowledge that the tea estate was  affected severely by the floods of 2018. The third day of Wetskills – Visit WWTP

Wetskills Hungary 2019 - by Evelin Németh After a really eventful weekend we was going to Csepel Island where located the Waste Water Treatment Plant from Budapest Waterworks. I would like to write a short summary about the treatment plant as a reminder. It was created the largest investment of the „ÉlőDuna” (Living Danube) project. This project was the most significant environmental protection investment carried out between 2004 and 2010. Before the plant started its operations, only 50% Budapest’s wastewater had been treated. This resulted in a degree of water contamination that the self-cleaning capacity of the Danube could no longer handle. Moreover this threatened the extinction of several local fish species. Thanks to the operation of the plant the 50% proportion increased to 95%. The collected wastewater reaches the central wastewater treatment plant through two channel pairs running under the Danube. With a daily hydraulic capacity of 350,000 m3 in dry...

Waste Water Works

Wetskills Hungary 2019 - by Bogi - Today we visited the Budapest Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Csepel Island with WETSKILLS team. We had an amazing guide with Enikő Szabolcsi, who drives us on all the water’s way from the entrance of the treatment plant till the very end of the process.  They are monitoring water 24 hours a day so can handle even the tiny change in ammonia level for example. We see, smell and feel how to be a part in this huge system. We got know that the treatment plan capable to create it’s own energy with biogas and with an “Archimedes nail” water power plant....

We are a group of 14 delegates including both International and domestic participants. This is the third time wetskills is being conducted in India, the venue for 2019 is JDT Islam Campus at Calicut. Day 1 had begun with routine session of prayer and welcome by the host. I being a resident of Calicut the joy and bliss was reflected on my face and the same has been shared on the session “how...

The Wicked Wetskills Weblog

Wetskills Hungary 2019 - By Berend - The Wicked Wetskills Weblog: 5 october afternoon And crazy it was! We split up in three groups -the groups that will work together on their designated case for the coming two weeks. So this assignment was the first test-case to show that we are capable of working together as a team and show what we are worth. Each group was given 88 challenges; 44 to be fulfilled in Buda and 44 in Pest. The team that completed most challenges in time was the winner of this assignment. But those challenges weren’t that easy…. You see, we are all very intelligent, clever people who are able to design a wastewater system, build a bridge and calculate groundwater flow. But now we had to brush the teeth of a stranger, buy a child and shave the legs of a man! Nevertheless all teams tried their...
