The first real working day!

The first real working day!

blog Wetskills-India 4 January – by Tess op den Kelder (Stockholm University, Sweden)

Today we really started working on the cases. The day started with a general introduction from Machtelijn, followed by an introduction of all the cases by the case holders.

It was very interesting to see that there is a large difference between the different cases, it’s going to be very interesting to hear all the solutions in the end. Unfortunately our case holder was not present.

This presentation was followed by a brief introduction to the different experts that were present. After that we had a few minutes to prepare questions for the experts for the speed dating. During the speed dating we had 5 minutes to talk to each expert and ask questions. The speed dating was very interesting and a lot of fun! It was nice to get a lot of different perspectives on our case and it gave us a lot of food for thought. Luckily, we could have email contact with our case holder, this was very informative and did help us a lot.

After yet another amazing lunch we first went to the ATM to get some cash. On the way back we saw a lot of monkeys from up close! It is very odd, but awesome, to see monkeys out in the wild instead of behind bars in the zoo.

After that we started working on our action plan. Iris, Niraj, Purvesh, and I are in a group and have case 1: sustainable measures against groundwater salinization in the coastal area of Gurjarat. It’s going to be a challenge to come up with a suitable solution, but that’s part of the fun! I’m very excited to continue working on it.
