‘Olympic’ Wetskills goes for first time to South Korea!

Wetskills and the Olympics: an interesting  combination, but in January and February Wetskills Foundation and its partners are preparing an 'Olympic' Wetskills edition in South Korea. Together with Embassy of the kingdom of the Netherlands, Hongik University in Seoul and Korea Water forum, Wetskills Foundation is looking for candidate participants and case owners to make this Wetskills edition (period: 27 January – 13 February 2018) happen. See and apply on our website. The Wetskills Foundation invites Bachelor, Master, PhD students and recent graduates to apply for the Wetskills Water Challenge programme in South Korea. This edition of Wetskills will take the participants to the nice city of Seoul and the Olympic city of Gangneung for two-and-a-half weeks, visiting interesting and relevant water-related locations in and around Seoul and having the finals and awarding in the framework of the Olympic Winter Games. Odor Control winner of Wetskills in Israel

‘It was a hard decision to announce the winning team. You are all winners’ said chair of the jury Henk Ovink special water envoy of Kingdom of The Netherlands at the awarding ceremony for Wetskills-Israel 2017. Henk Ovink prised the teams and was especially impressed by the quality of the presented two-minute pitches. ‘The quality of the presentations was high. A lot of water professionals can learn from this. Of course it is not only about the pitch, because a bad idea in a good pitch is still a bad idea. Wetskills back in Israel!

After four years Wetskills is back in Israel (link). Wetskills-Israel 2017 has started this week: international participants from Israeli and Dutch universities work in mixed teams on cases from Netafim (drip irrigation), Mekorot (pollutants in drinking water system) and Mey Avivim water company Tel Aviv (odor control). Our local host is again Grand Water Research Institute of Technion University in Haifa. After a nice Haifa Tour the participants went to some sites of national water carrier and Lake Kinnereth for water and cultural sites. On Tuesday the BrainHurricane was organized with speeddate sessions with various experts. After this the teams went further with brainstorming. Later in the week some of the teams had a tailored trip to see and feel more about their case.
